Anne Heche expected to ‘pull through’ after near-deadly car crash: report

Anne Heche is expected to “pull through” after a fiery California car crash, according to her ex-boyfriend.

Heche, 53, was reportedly intubated and remains in critical condition after she slammed her blue Mini Cooper into a garage in Los Angeles Friday, then backed up and took off before smashing into another house.

The car exploded after the second crash, and Heche — who was reportedly badly burned — was later seen flailing on a stretcher after first responders rescued her from the wrecked vehicle.

Ex-boyfriend Thomas Jane, an actor who dated Heche as recently as 2020, told the Daily Mail she is expected to make it.

“My thoughts and prayers are with Anne, one of the true talents of her generation Thank God no one else was hurt,” Jane said in a statement, according to the outlet.

A neighbor who saw Heche’s car speed by raced to the scene after the crash, he told the Daily Mail, helping the homeowner get herself and her pets out of the burning structure.

He then went to help Heche, who was crammed in between the driver’s seat and an airbag.

“I tried speaking with her a few times asking if she was ok but she wasn’t responding so I had to get closer,” David Manpearl said. “I was able to open the back door of the car and crawled half-way inside. This time when I asked her if she was ok, she said no.”

Manpearl exited the car when flames overtook it.

“‘I was positive that the driver was dead,” he said. “That she had burned up. It took at least 30 minutes for the fire department to douse the flames, extract the car and pull her out of the car.”

Nearly 60 firefighters took a little more than an hour to put out the blaze and rescue Heche from the burned and wrecked car in the Mar Vista area of LA. The home she hit was destroyed.

A disheveled-looking Heche was pictured at the wheel of her car after the first crash, when bystanders were apparently trying to get her to stop driving. One photo showed a container with a red top on it that appeared to be a vodka bottle.

Los Angeles Fire Department is currently investigating the fiery car crash.

“We really had a multifaceted incident here,” LAFD Capt. Erik Scott said after the crash. ‘We had a significant traffic collision, we had entrapment of a woman inside that, we had car that erupted into fire, and then we had a home that had significant fire that is red tagged. It’s at this point destroyed.”

Heche, who has admitted to using drugs and alcohol in the past, famously dated Ellen DeGeneres from 1997 to 2000. After their relationship ended, a shaken and disoriented Heche drove to Fresno and knocked on the door of a stranger. She was briefly hospitalized after the incident.

Heche has said in past interviews that she was molested by her father, Don Heche, from the time she was a toddler to age 12. Don Heche died of AIDS in 1983 and Anne has said he lived a double life as a closet homosexual.

More than 50 firefighters worked to clear out a huge blaze from Anne Heche’s Mini Cooper.

Heche’s brother Nathan died in a car crash three months after the death of their father, which Anne has suggested was a suicide.
